Aspire to Believe CIC

Moorsholm Youth Club

Following funding from Middlesbrough and Teesside Philanthropic & Tees Valley Community Foundation, Moorsholm Youth Club began working with young people in January 2018.

Moorsholm is a rural village on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors. Like many rural villages it struggles with isolation and loneliness.

We work with young people from the age of 10 to 19 years who live within 10 miles of the village. During the last twelve months we have targeted 45 young people. We have enabled 2 young people to become junior youth workers and to be part of a steering group for Youth Focus NE.

Opportunities have arisen for one young person to be employed part time with aspire to believe. Along with another member of staff they are now training for their level 2 youth work qualification.

We have had an eventful year thanks to the help of our funding bodies and Youth Focus NE. We have created a community garden, held a community youth event and are currently working with older residents in the village on a come dine with me event.

The young people work hard to fundraise to keep their youth club going. From January 2019 the youth club will open two nights a week and open up for a junior club for 7 to 10 years.
